It can be easy in the fall months for your cinematic view to become focused on the awards contenders and blockbusters that are arriving stateside. But in other major movie markets, this time of year is also a big one for movie audiences, and overseas John Woo is getting ready to unleash his massive epic "The Crossing." A couple of new international trailers for the film have arrived.
Told across two films, the picture features Zhang Ziyi, Huang Xiamoing and Song Hye-kyo in a saga (presented in IMAX 3D, of course) that chronicles three couples and their intertwining love stories set in 1940s Taiwan and Shanghai. But most significant of all will be Woo getting his own "Titanic" moment, with some of the drama involving the 1949 sinking of Taiping, which caused the deaths of over 1500 people who were trying to flee following the Chinese Civil War. So yes, this is a big, broad canvas for Woo to paint on and it looks like he’s making the most of it.
Part 1 of "The Crossing" arrives on December 2nd in China, with Part 2 to arrive in time for Chinese New Year in early 2015. No word yet on if/when it’ll hit cinemas here. Watch below. [Vlicious!]
