Is there any cinephile worth the name who doesn’t have at least one Criterion release in their collection? Not likely. Everyone’s favorite boutique home video label has built its sterling reputation on an impeccable attention to detail and the great care they take with each and every release. This week’s release of Nicolas Roeg’s “Don’t Look Now” is no different, and if that wacky ‘C’ in the corner isn’t enough to get your credit card out then, perhaps the Criterion Collection itself can convince you with a brand new “Three Reasons” video.
Over the past couple of years, the home video label has periodically posted a video that lists three reasons why you need a particular release. The reasons for Roeg’s controversial supernatural classic include Julie Christie’s performance as a grieving mother, the unsettling elderly sisters Heather and Wendy, and the slowly building supernatural terror that builds throughout the film.
