Update 1/9: This promo was written & directed by Masa Tsuyki.
When making a movie, achieving a "Director’s Cut"—a complete vision of what you intended to make, without interference from outside interests—is the ultimate goal for any filmmaker. Behind the camera, Francis Ford Coppola has been doing just that for much of his career. Not only does his desire to craft the perfect vision include his films, but it extends to wines as well, and today comes a clever promo from Coppola that shows making movies and making wines aren’t so different.
Francis Ford Coppola Winery has created a Director’s Cut label to allow Director of Winemaking, Corey Beck, to make the wines he wanted to without compromise. The result? The 2012 Director’s Cut Zinfandel, which just earned 90 points from premiere wine expert and critic Robert Parker. But as you’ll see in the video below, directed by Coppola, the production of films and wine have a lot in common. This is a tremendously fun look at the parallels of each step in the process, from just an idea on the vine to a film in the can. Check it out.
Yes it\’s very clever but it wasn\’t directed by FFC, he wasn\’t involved at all. Give credit where credit is due – it was written and directed by Masa Tsuyuki.
