Watch: Christopher Nolan, Angelina Jolie & Bennett Miller Remember Mike Nichols Plus 8-Minute Video Essay On His Career

Mike NicholsThe sudden loss of Mike Nichols last week shook Hollywood. The filmmaker, comic, writer, and producer was not only a hugely influential presence at the movies, on television, and on the stage, he was widely regarded as simply one of the finest people around. And in addition to the many notices last week, the remembrances for Nichols will likely keep arriving in the weeks to come.

And THR, during their recent directors’ roundtable, asked the assembled filmmakers for their reflections on Nichols. Christopher Nolan revealed that he’s a huge "Working Girl" fan (huh), while Richard Linklater and Angelina Jolie both remarked on the artistry and heart of Nichols’ work. But it was Bennett Miller who was clearly most affected by Nichols’ death. The filmmaker was close to him, and had even emailed Nichols the day prior to his death, and the emotions are still very much raw when he shares what Nichols meant to him.

Watch below, along with an 8-minute video essay on Nichols’ career via Press Play. Lastly, check out our feature, The Essentials: The 5 Best Mike Nichols Movies.
