On paper, an ensemble cast including Charlize Theron, Corey Stoll, Tye Sheridan, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Sterling Jerins and Christina Hendricks starring in an adaptation of a best-selling thriller by "Gone Girl" author Gillian Flynn seems like a guaranteed success. But somewhere along the way it seems enthusiasm has waned for "Dark Places." It is already screening overseas and continues to roll out internationally, and today a new trailer has arrived.
Gilles Paquet-Brenner ("Sarah’s Key") directs the tale that follows Libby Day (Theron), who witnesses her family get murdered as a youngster and testifies against her brother when he is tried for the crime. 25 years later, Libby is brought before the secretive, crime-solving Kill Club who want to uncover the truth about what happened.
"Dark Places" opens in the U.S. on August 7th.
