No, you’re not confused, a Sarah Palin documentary is already making its way around the country, the hagiographic, softball portrait “The Undefeated,” a grassroots sensation — or so the producers want you to believe — though in actuality, no one really cares all that much. Nevertheless, despite what you may think of her, it’s undeniable that Palin is an intriguing political figure, someone who has managed to rally a huge group of followers who do have some impact on the discourse of the nation, no matter how misinformed and ridiculous that discourse is. And while “The Undefeated” is being pitched right to her core, controversial filmmaker Nick Broomfield has teamed with Joan Churchill to offer a response.
With a premiere at TIFF in the cards, a clip has hit from “Sarah Palin — You Betcha!” and unfortunately it seems to be quite problematic. In the piece, Broomfield crashes a Q&A and while he rightfully points out the inconsistencies in what Palin says versus the facts on the record he can’t help but shout out a question to Palin herself, asking if she thinks here political career is over. Broomfield seems to be operating with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, and in a time when partisan politics are already petty and personal, the tack he’s taking doesn’t seem constructive nor does it really offer much in the way of insight.
It’s an odd choice for a first clip from a film that promises interviews with Palin’s parents, friends, colleagues and folks like ex-legislative director John Bitney and ex-brother-in-law Mike Wooten, and makes us wonder how substantial those conversations were. But perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised, as Broomfield’s style has never been particularly graceful. Anyway, it’s compelling nonetheless, so check it out below.
More like \”after 3 years of listening to Sarah Palin\’s BS\”.
Run, Sarah run. Sarah Palin was so successful as a governor, she graduated early “Bitter Quitter”, she real is a “Dan Quayle” in heels. She clearly loves “dishing it out” but real can’t take it because she loves playing the victim card, poor thing. She fail as a VP candidate (her lie that her daughter was engaged was such a farce, selling celibacy, come on), her stand-up comic fiasco on the Jay Leno Show, please, her TV show canceled after declining rating, I guess her perpetual run for the White House (and taking the suckers money) is the only thing she can look forward. Didn’t Fake News make that other movie “undeveloped” or “under achiever” or something like that, right? Didn’t it break all box office records, oh yeah it did not, that Alaska dullard can‘t even finish the bus tour to nowhere. But since she is a coward she will only throw small minded rocks, poor thing. Since we already had an idiot “W” in the White House that caused our current economic debacle, America knows not to trust the GOP fools who flaunt the idiocy.
Another Sarah Palin hit piece, just what we need…after 3 years of listening to the left tear her apart, all we need is one more? No thanks!
This is just more of the same BS we\’ve been hearing all along – and I\’m sure you can always find disgruntled employees who want to dish (look at all the new authors trying to make a load of cash on SP). I\’m from Wasilla and and I wouldn\’t describe it as a \”devout evangelical community.\” And Lyda Green? PLEASE. The woman is vile and has always been jealous of SP\’s popularity. To think anyone is giving her airtime is hilarious. Sounds like a lot of hearsay nonsense that someone is trying to make into a movie about the \”real\” SP. I don\’t know anyone who is interested in watching \”more of the same.\” We\’ve seen it every day in the media for 3 years – NO THANKS!
Any Palin documentary should be animated. It would be so cheap. She\’s already a cartoon character! Hey-O!
