While we're always wary of childhood favorites coming to the big screen, 20th Century Fox's recent "Horton Hears A Who!" seems to have at least gotten the spirit and playfulness of the Dr. Seuss' book down. Now Universal are going to give it a whirl with "The Lorax" and they too seem to be coming at it from the right angle.
Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda — who last worked together on last year's smash hit "Despicable Me" — are directing this story, and they seem to have gotten the spirit right for the enviromental tale, even if it's been contemporized slightly for kids today. A new Australian trailer has landed and it shows off a pretty healthy new batch of footage and a completely different vibe than the American spot. Most notably, it ditches the romantic subplot present in the American spot and more heavily zeroes in on the Once-ler who tells his tale to the plucky young kid who wants to know about the diminutive titular environmentalist.
Anyway, if you're looking forward to the film, this new look is worth a couple moments of your time. "The Lorax" lands in 3D on March 2, 2012.
