If the entirety of Alfonso Cuarón’s new 3D space movie “Gravity” is going to be like the series of clips the studio has been releasing over the last couple of days, then we’re fairly certain our heart is going to explode out of our chest, Jeff Fahey-on-“Under the Dome” style. The newest clip, entitled “I’ve Got You” and running at almost two minutes, isn’t all that much different than the others that the studio has released—Sandra Bullock is floating in space, George Clooney is trying to talk her through it, and, on yeah, your jaw will most likely be agape in sheer wonderment and terror.
In the clip, it looks like Clooney and Bullock’s marooned astronauts (their spaceship got destroyed by a meteor shower, as seen in one of the earlier clips) are trying to make contact with what looks like a space station. Initially they’re tethered together but by the end of the clip… not so much. The visuals are, of course, stunning, even in crappy YouTube mode (they will probably be certifiably mind-melting in IMAX 3D), and the music by Steven Price (who assisted the Basement Jaxx on the John Carpenter-inspired score for “Attack the Block”) is pulse-quickening in its effectiveness.
We do worry that Warner Bros. might be showing too much of the movie so early (it doesn’t get a wide release until October), but it’s not exactly lessening our excitement for the movie.
“Gravity” will be screened at both the Toronto International Film Festival and Venice International Film Festivals before opening wide for all of us plebes on October 4th. Hopefully medical personnel will be on hand.
Kinda glad Angelina and RDJ dropped out.
Gravity will soon be the first feature film released solely and entirely in two minute increments. Also, WB to begin re-releasing all "Gravity" clips w/ director's commentary early next week.
The space station is the ISS, the International Space Station…
This movie looks like a video game.
I need this movie in my face right now
Same here. I just want to watch the film as a whole. Didnt even watch the last two clips
I'm officially going to stop watching any Gravity clips until it opens.
So effective! I can hardly wait!
