By any rational thought process, there was no reason to expect NBC‘s “Hannibal” to be any good. After all, how could they bring to the small screen one of pop culture’s most fearsome killers, especially within the constraints of network television? But color us surprised that the first season was mostly terrific. Yes, the killer-of-the-week setup is easily the weakest link in “Hannibal,” but we’re willing to overlook when the writing is this good, the performances this top shelf (yep, Mads Mikkelsen is totally perfect in the part) and that season one cliffhanger? Damn… Needless to stay we’re stoked to see what’s next.
NBC has dropped a (seemingly spoilery) preview for season two, and it picks up right where things left off. With Agent Will Graham now behind bars, framed for Dr. Hannibal Lecter’s crimes, it seems the new episodes will see him trying to prove his innocence. And it looks like he casts enough suspicion on the cannibal that both Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) look to get targeted by the foodie-loving murderer. We hope that since it’s in the trailer, Hannibal is going on the defensive early on the season.
Either way, it looks like “House Of Cards” isn’t the only new series to track down next month. “Hannibal” gets another bite starting on February 28th. [SciFiNow]
First off, there's every reason to expect this to be good. Quite simply because Bryan Fuller hasn't written a single terrible script in his entire career. He wrote what is still noted as the best episode of Heroes, Wonderfalls, the pilot of Dead Like Me, and Pushing Daisies.
Second, it's a marvel of character development; the disintegration of Will Graham's psyche over the course of season one could be taught in screenwriting classes. There is no "it was all a dream" aspect to the season at all. Which sharks did it jump? How did it constantly flip-flop? Examples would make your point better.
Stylishly made but deeply deeply stupid. For network TV maybe it's deserving of some praise, but it's the antithesis to modern TV, you can only stay interested, if you don't binge watch. It jumped several sharks in the first season, constantly flip flopped and hey, maybe it was all a dream? really lost me in the end. Lots of British 'twitchy face acting' ( a tradition introduced by Joe Fiennes/Damian Lewis), so yep I'm not a fan, but this is a nicely put together trailer.
