Just as one list season is ending with 2014 coverage wrapping up in early January, a different kind of list season will begin. It’s 2015, which means we have a decade and a half of movies to look back on from the start of the millenium. But the folks at Fandor have taken a different approach, asking 290 critics and movie lovers to pick the best films from 2010-2014. If anything, it shows there was a lot to be happy about over the past five years.
The list of twenty-six films shown below, filling twenty-four slots (there were a couple of ties), highlights a tremendous crop of movies from filmmakers like the Coen Brothers, Terrence Malick, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Spike Jonze, Harmony Korine and Lars von Trier. But it’s not just the well known auteurs getting shout outs —we’re super pleased to see the lovely "Tabu" crack the list, and it seems Kenneth Lonergan‘s "Margaret" has lingered in the minds of many after its half-hearted release in theaters. And we’ll be curious to see how 2014 movies like "Under The Skin," "The Immigrant" and "Leviathan" rank in another five years.
Check out the list of top 26 below and get the full vote count right here. And then watch the seven-minute countdown reel.

Tabu
Spring Breakers is SO underrated, no wonder the world is getting very, very feeble. It should have done MUCH better at the box office. As for the rest, decent list overall.
black swan? the king\’s speech?
How could you leave Shame, Amour, 12 Years a Slave, Blue is the Warmest Color, Zero Dark Thirty, The Descendants, Another Year, Black Swan, Somewhere, Gravity off this list?
I agree about Wolf of Wall Street. If they had to (which they obviously did) to include Scorsese, Hugo would be beautiful choice. But in general, on of the best lists I have ever seen.
Interstellar?? Hello? Gravity?
Great list! Some movies I thought were missing: Only lovers left alive, Django Unchained, The Sunset Limited,
I like this list. The Tree of Life is my absolute favorite. But where is \’The Great Beauty\’?
The Leviathan mentionned in the video isn\’t the 2014 film you\’re mentionning in the article
Two years have passed since I saw Holy Motors and I still think it\’s meaningless posturing. But hey, that\’s cool, at least Frederick Wiseman made the list… oh he didn\’t? 🙁 at least The Tree of Life and Anatolia are on there
Such a bad list
wow not many i can argue against even though some arent my cup of tea i respect them as films…but stoker i would say seriously should be on list especially if the wolf is on there smh…beyond that 1 i can safely say deserves to be on the list and its an utter travesty it only got 3 votes…id say honorable mentions are dear white people(not 1 vote),sno on tha bluff(not 1 vote),the cabin in the woods(at least got 3), beast of the southern wild(at least got 3),gone girl( at least got 3)…….although most of those i can easily see why they didnt make the cut along with other really good films…but i feel stoker and dear white people are criminally overlooked…..but list are fun
Blue is the Warmest Color? Black Swan? Inception?
The Wolf of Wall Street deserves to be higher!
I\’d also add Amour, Winter\’s Bone, Drive, Zero Dark Thirty, 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, Carlos, A Dangerous Method, Take Shelter, Inherent Vice
Wolf of Wall Street doesn\’t deserve to be on the list. Take it down, Please!
Inception?
Movie lover
Good list. Utterly mind-boggled at the exclusion of Amour though. Also: Carlos + A Prophet.
