Watch: 7-Minute ‘2015 Salute To Cinema’ Rounds Up The Year’s Highlights

Furious 7Well, we’re in the home stretch. With a month left in 2015, most of the year is in the rearview. And while some films are still looming out there on the horizon of mid-December (“Joy,” “The Hateful Eight,” and some sort of little reboot I must be forgetting), folks have begun fashioning all kinds of end-of-the-year best/worst lists (including us — yesterday we dropped our 20 Best Movie Posters of 2015, today we dropped 15 Best Trailers, and we’ve got more coming). Basically, there’s no better time than now — before holidays creep up and January awards season bashes us over the head until we get amnesia — to take a look back at what cinema has given us in 2015.

To help kick off the process, Ben Zuk has put together “2015 Salute To Cinema.” The 7-minute mashup squeezes in 164 films, ranging from the mega hits (“Jurassic World,” “Furious 7”) to the darling indies (“Tangerine,” “The End Of The Tour”) and foreign pics (“Son Of Saul,” “Youth”), and everything else in between. Zuk even does what he can to slip in those forthcoming flicks, taking clips from trailers and promos.

Overall, it’s a bit of a nostalgic look back at a year that’s 11/12s finished. It might even be a sort of a reminder, that despite all the hits and misses — the box office surprises and duds, the noise — 2015, like most every other year, was a pretty thrilling year to be a devout fan of cinema.
