It’s still a long road to anyone seeing Paul Thomas Anderson‘s highly anticipated "Inherent Vice"….or is it? According to Jeffrey Wells over at Hollywood Elsewhere, some folks have managed to be lucky enough to see the film and the feedback has apparently been that it’s “brilliant and mesmerizing in an atmospheric, non-linear sort of way”—which is basically what we’d expect from a Thomas Pynchon adaptation. Moreover, there are apparent rumblings that a New York Film Festival premiere could be in the works…
Anyway, something to consider while you wait, but in the meantime, this video tribute to PTA’s films by Randall Star should at least hold you over. It’s nicely cut six minutes going through PTA’s catalog, scored with Jon Brion’s music from "Magnolia" providing the backdrop along with "Momentum" by Aimee Mann. Watch below. [Frequency]
This YouTube video tribute of Paul Thomas Anderson's films is "brilliant and mesmerizing in an atmospheric, non-linear sort of way…"
Nice tribute except they left punch-drunk love off the list of films at the end…
P.T.A is a master, if you can't see that, than it's understandable that his film's may go over your heads.
Well, PTA is overrated. Cant understand why you guys dote on him. Most of his movies are static and designed as show-cases for certain actors. BLOOD and DANIEL DAY LEWIS come to mind. You get so bored you run for cover. BOOGIE NIGHTS is the exception. That is a real movie, terrific wherever you look. VICE will be interesting though, being based on a book by a witty stoner.
I told this guy that three months ago an industry friend who'd seen Vice had described it in a similar way, calling it "brilliant and mesmerizing in an atmospheric, non-linear sort of way"as well as "Lebowski-esque" (from Cigs and Red Vines)
So one industry person says this and you parrot it as "the feedback"?? Stoop lower guys. The PTA bias of this site is ridiculous.
Its not good. Joel Walden's Montage is much better.
