We’re in the thick of the awards season, which means long gone are the conversations about how long it took to set up a big VFX shot or what it was like playing [insert superhero]. Instead, movie lovers can now actually have substantive talks about, well, movies, and more importantly, so to can filmmakers. Which means for the next little while, as we get closer to the Oscars, we’re going to be getting some fascinating talks with some great talent, and here’s one of them.
THR has rolled out their 50-minute roundtable screenwriters talk with George Clooney and Grant Heslov (“Monuments Men“), Julie Delpy (“Before Midnight“), Nicole Holofcener (“Enough Said“), John Ridley (“12 Years A Slave“), Danny Strong (“Lee Daniels’ The Butler“) and Jonas Cuaron (“Gravity“). And of course, it’s a pretty interesting discussion covering a lot of bases, including critics who gripe about exact historical accuracy in docu-dramas, their toughest moments as screenwriters, scripts they couldn’t crack and awful advice from agents.
As far as peeks into the process goes, this is a pretty good group of folks to take you there. Watch below.
