“Mobius” is a film that has been on our radar for a while now, first intriguing us last November with its “Inception“-esque teaser. Then it was announced yesterday that “Mobius” would be included in the lineup at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and, right on cue, we have a whole slew of new pics as well as a couple of clips from the film to get us even more excited. Certainly, this makes “Mobius” a must-see at next month’s festival.
The French thriller stars Jean Dujardin, Tim Roth, and Cecile de France and follows undercover Russian FSB officer Gregory Lioubov (Dujardin) and international trader Alice Redmond (De France), who has her own secrets to hide. Their relationship sparks a deadly chase to snag Lioubov’s real target, business magnate Ivan Rostovsky (Roth). The trilingual film — Russian, French and English — tests the tongues of the cast, with Roth and De France talking in English in their tense clip, while in the second sequence, Dujardin tries on a little Russian. All told, it’s pretty compelling.
The film is in theaters now in France. Hopefully its international premiere in Tribeca will lead to the film being released theatrically in the US soon after. Until then, these pics and clips will have to tide you over.
The review in THR labelled it a bit of a dud. Just sayin'.
Möbius has nothing to do with Inception… It's a romantic thriller, and more romantic than thriller. Be prepared.
