Internet-based distribution shingle IndiePix have acquired the North American rights to Warwick Thornton’s 2009 Cannes Camera d’Or winner and Australia’s 2009 Academy Awards contender “Samson & Delilah.”
Equally delicate, intimate and bleak, the coming-of-age tale follows two Aboriginal teens as they attempt to escape the harsh realities and difficulties of their lives in a remote outback community. Where Thornton’s film flourishes though is in its ability to explore the plight of the Aboriginal people within the confines of the subdued teenage romance, portrayed by amateur actors Rowan McNamara and Marissa Gibson.
The film has earned overwhelmingly positive reviews during its theatrical runs in Australia as well as the U.K., and it’s been hotly tipped title for a while now and we’re very excited to be able to finally check it out.

Saw this on a trip to New Zealand and thought it was one of the better movies of this year. Pure poetry. Fine performances. Unbelievably photographed.
After seeing this movie, I thought, knowing your reviews of other similar movies, that The Playlist blog will love this movie. Maybe one or two writers won't be so hot, but I think you'll pretty much have an orgasm.
