Warner Bros. Delays ‘Shazam’ & ‘Aquaman’ Sequels Yet Again, With ‘Lost Kingdom’ Moving To Xmas 2023

Well, the hits keep coming to the DC Universe. In another blow to fans and the universe, following the recent Warner Bros. Discovery second-quarter earnings call and the cancelation of “Batgirl,” the studio announced that two of its films were being delayed again.

Once set for March 17, 2023, but “Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom” is moving almost a full year later to December 25, 2023. Originally set for a December 21, 2022, face-off with “Avatar 2,” “Shazam: Fury Of The Gods” is now moving in to fill that March 17, 2023 slot.

What of “The Flash,” starring the embattled PR disaster Ezra Miller? Well, it still seems set for June 23, 2023, with no changes, at least so far. The other DC Film coming soon, “Black Adam,” remains on its October 21, 2022, release date.

“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is directed once again by David F. Sandberg. Zachary Levi returns as the title character, as do supporting characters Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, and Djimon Hounsou. New to this film are the film’s villains, played by Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren, and Rachel Zegler.

“Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom” features the return of director James Wan, lead star Jason Momoa, alongside Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman. Ben Affleck was recently cast in a Bruce Wayne cameo that was originally meant for Michael Keaton‘s version of Batman.

“The Flash” is a multiverse film, directed by Andy Muschietti and stars Ezra Miller as the title character, alongside Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton as Tim Burton‘s version of Batman, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ben Affleck also as the modern-day version of Batman.
