Got a Tip?

Warner Bros. Announces ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Black & Chrome Edition On DVD & Blu-ray

Word has long been that director George Miller always envisioned “Mad Max: Fury Road” as a black and white film. Obviously, the studio wasn’t going to release that version in theaters. However, later this year, fans of ‘Fury Road’ are going to be able to see Miller’s vision when Warner Bros. unveils “Mad Max: Fury Road Black & Chrome Edition.”

The “Black & Chrome Edition” of ‘Fury Road’ will be released in two versions. First, as part of the “Mad Max High Octane Collection,” a set that will include all four of the ‘Mad Max’ films, including the most recent, ‘Fury Road,’ along with the ‘Black & Chrome Edition.’ But if you’re not interested in owning the whole series, you can purchase the “Mad Max: Fury Road Two Film Collection” which will include the original theatrical cut of the film, along with the new black and white version with an introduction from George Miller.

The box set looks to be the definitive ‘Mad Max’ release, featuring hours of extra features. Both releases are going to be available just in time for Christmas, on December 6th. Check out the full list of extras below. [ComingSoon]

The High Octane Collection Special Features and Additions:

  • NEW! *Fury Road “Black & Chrome” Edition – Witness the surreal black and white version of mastermind George Miller’s Fury Road.

  • Madness of Max – The previously released Mad Max (1979) documentary is a feature-length documentary on the making of arguably the most influential movie of the past thirty years. With over forty cast-and-crew interviews, hundreds of behind-the-scenes photographs and never-before-seen film footage of the shoot, this is, without a doubt, the last word on Mad Max (1979). Interviews include: George Miller, Byron Kennedy, Mel Gibson, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Steve Bisley, Roger Ward, Joanne Samuel, David Eggby, Jon Dowding and many more. From the Producers to the Bike Designers to the Traffic Stoppers, this is the story of how Mad Max was made.

      • Is there? (That’s not sarcasm–that’s an honest question.)

I recently rented “The Mist” from Netflix after hankering to rewatch it after all these years, and I had read there was a B&W version. Netflix didn’t have it, so I went all the way to B&W and what I got was what I assumed the intention was; it looked good. It also looked no different than any other B&W film or show that I had seen.

    • yea way more, you can lose the color on the tv but the image will basically just look like different shades of grey. you need to go through and mess with the image to get the right black and white contrast that actually looks good.

I’m excited warner bros. is releasing this!!

i heard someone re-edited batman vs superman and man of steel into one not terrible movie too, wonder if they will end up releasing that : /
