Taika Waititi isn’t afraid to step in front of the camera for his films. Whether it’s as a vampire in “What We Do in the Shadows” or a Kronan (aka alien rock guy) in “Thor: Ragnarok,” the director has always chosen interesting roles for himself. However, in his latest film “Jojo Rabbit,” Waititi has probably picked his most interesting, and controversial, role of his acting career – Adolph Hitler. And thanks to social media, we now know what Waititi’s version of Hitler will look like in the upcoming film.
In a recent Instagram post, Waititi shared an image of himself as the Nazi leader sitting at the dinner table. With the caption, “Possibly the weirdest dinner I’ve ever been to,” the filmmaker is unrecognizable as the historical figure (Waititi affectionately refers to his character as “Shitler” in his posts). The picture shows the young boy, played by Roman Griffin, sitting at the dinner table with his imaginary friend (Shitler) and his mother, played by ‘Avengers’ alum Scarlett Johansson. Obviously, there’s no context to the picture, but it’s clear that the filmmaker is going for a very realistic look as Hitler.

There’s no release date yet for “Jojo Rabbit,” but it’s safe to assume that Waititi’s Hitler will get his time on screen sometime in 2019.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
In JOJO RABBIT, writer-director Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE), brings his signature style of humor and pathos to a World War II satire. The story follows an awkward young German boy (Roman Griffin) raised by a single mother (Scarlett Johansson), and whose only ally is his imaginary friend Hitler (Waititi). His naïve patriotism is tested when he meets a young girl (Thomasin McKenzie) who upends his worldviews, forcing him to face his biggest fears.
The character he played in Thor:Ragnorak was called Korg, not Kronan
