Got a Tip?

VFX Artist Tim Miller Graduates To The Big Time, Will Direct ‘Deadpool’

Well, the director’s chair for the gestating “Deadpool” has been filled by some interesting folks thus far. Robert Rodriguez sat in it first before conflicts with “Spy Kids 4” ousted him and he was replaced by Swedish newcomer Adam Berg last fall. And as Ryan Reynolds hopes to carve out time in his schedule to make it happen, another helmer has come aboard.

Tim Miller, a visual effects artist on films like “X-Men,” “X2” and “Daredevil” (and thus no stranger to the comic world) has graduated to his first directing gig, taking on “Deadpool” according to Deadline.

Centering around the “merc with a mouth” who was the best part of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently revealed “it’s an R script, it’s really irreverent and violent” but even with another helmer now on board, it still is a bit of ways off. Reynolds films “R.I.P.D.” this summer and it will also depend on how quickly Warner Bros. make good on their option for a “Green Lantern” sequel (though box office will likely be the biggest factor in that decision). So let’s just hope the stars align and Reynolds can get in front of the camera for this thing.

  1. As much as I love Joel McHale, I can\’t see him playing a superhero. I want to, I think he\’s hilarious, but he seems more like smart tushed guy at the bar making fun of the Bros and their girlfriends.

Ryan Reynolds was funny and witty and mouthy in \”Two Guys and a Girl.\” Loved that show.

  2. After The Green Lantern mega flops this will be cancelled. Ryan Reynolds can\’t draw receipts. He\’s a supporter. Hollyweird is out of touch with what the people want to see.
