Hollywood struggles to get Venom right. The comic book character has seen two big screen adaptations so far with Topher Grace in “Spider-Man 3” and then Tom Hardy in “Venom,” and neither have quite hit the mark. Grace lacked the edge to play the role, and Hardy leaned toward the weirdness of the character but lacked the screen time to dominate the role.

Well, making over $850 million at the box office speaks volumes. Thus, Hardy got a second shot at playing Eddie Brock/Venom in “Venom: Let Their Be Carnage,” which finally hits theaters this fall. The film’s released was pushed back several times because of the COVID pandemic, but the film will finally see the light of day this September.

Woody Harrelson teased viewers at the end of “Venom” with his cameo as serial killer Cletus Kasady, otherwise known as Carnage. Now, the iconic actor gets to shine fighting with Hardy’s Venom in what should be an over-the-top, CGI-heavy battle of blood, guts, and quips.

Michelle Williams and Reid Scott both return for the sequel. Scribe Kelly Marcel is also back for a sole writing credit after working with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg on the first film, with Andy Serkis taking over as director from Rueben Fleisher. Naomi Harris and Stephen Graham also join the cast, with Harris portraying Frances Barrison, also known as Shriek, and Graham portraying a detective investigating Kasady.

The initial teaser showcased the weirdness that could be on display, starting with Venom cooking haphazardly while singing “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off.” The first Venom proved to be at its best when Hardy was allowed to go full force with the zany character, he just had to be reined in too much for the story. Not to mention they had to wait to fully show the character.
