Got a Tip?

U.S. Remake Of Kurosawa’s ‘Rashomon’ Heading In 2010

There’s going to be a remake made of Akira Kurosawa’s seminal, “Rashomon,” classic set in the U.S.?? That’s the plan according to Variety.

Apparently a remake has been in the works since 2001, but had struggled to get green-lit. An international consortium of studio players hope to have the film ready for the100th anniversary celebration of Kurosawa’s birth.

Just like the original, the film centers on a court who must decide the true facts about the rape of a woman and the murder of her husband, but we can assume if it’s set in modern times, it’s going to be dramatically different, but then again we shouldn’t be shocked, ‘Rashomon’s multiple P.O.V. story lines in a murder or court has ostensibly been remade over dozens of times anyhow. No cast has been decided upon.
