Got a Tip?

U.S. Army Pulls Ads Featuring Jonathan Majors After Actor’s Arrest For Assault

Over the weekend, Jonathan Majors dominated headlines after it was revealed that he was arrested for alleged assault against a woman. Almost immediately after, a statement was released by the actor’s lawyer denying any wrongdoing and saying that Majors would be cleared of all charges. Of course, that latter bit has yet to happen, and because of that, we’re already seeing Majors’ career suffer a bit of a setback as one of his ad campaigns has been paused.

According to Deadline, the U.S. Army has paused an ad campaign that features Jonathan Majors promoting the military branch. Obviously, this change of heart happens in light of the accusations and pending criminal charges against the actor.

“The U.S. Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors and we are deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest,” said Laura DeFrancisco, spokesperson for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office. “While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”

This year has been huge for Majors, as he has seen two films of his (“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Creed III”) have massive box office openings with rave reviews coming for the actor’s performances in both. Unfortunately, just as it seemed as if Majors was beginning to become untouchable, this arrest and assault accusations happened, and there are a ton of questions about what his future might hold.

As mentioned, Majors’ lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, defended her client and released a statement:

“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently. This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.

All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday.  The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”

Of course, if the charges are dropped and nothing comes from the accusations, you have to assume that Majors will be ok in the long run. Will the Army go back to showing his ads in the future? That we do not know.
