AICN, has an exclusive look at two scenes from Greg Mottola’s coming-0f-age dramedy, “Adventureland” starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Martin Starr, Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig and Ryan Reynolds.
Mottola directed “Superbad” and this film, hitting theaters on March 27, ranked very high on our 60+ Most Anticipated Films of 2009 list. Fans of “Superbad” should note though, while this film is equally funny, we’re calling it a dramedy on purpose, there’s lots of heavy bittersweet and melancholy tones to the film (or at least in the screenplay). We’re already beginning to regret it, but based on the script, we called this film the potential “Rushmore” of 2009, not because it’s anything like it or as good as that film, but because it reminded us of that mix of funny, slightly heightened staged sense of comedy and heartfelt wistfulness. What we’re saying is they both have autumnal tones.
The film is also premiering at Sundance next week and we’re bummed that a lot of people are going to be seeing it before us. The soundtrack is replete with good music, plus features a rock score for Hoboken indie rockers Yo La Tengo.
