Got a Tip?

Twilight Stars “Not Even Close” To Making Deal For (Potentially 3D!) Fifth Film

Last week, we reported that the fourth installment of Stephanie Meyer’s ubiquitous “Twilight” series. “Breaking Dawn,” would be split into two separate films. With the creation of an extra film in the series, we assumed that stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner would be able to augment their current contracts (which only included four films) to make some serious extra cash given their success and fame. Well, according to THR, the three teen heart-throbs have yet to make any deals regarding the fifth film and they are “not even close” to doing so.

Despite Stewart’s apparent general dismay with her fame from the series, we imagine that Summit Entertainment will be able to hook her and her co-stars up with formidable contracts, given the massive success of the films. Even Lautner, generally maintaining a lower profile than Stewart or Pattinson up until this point, could rack up a big price with his own upcoming lead roles (such as the title character of the developing 3D “Stretch Armstrong”).

But is there a chance they might bail on the fifth film? Anything is possible, and as THR astutely points out, Stewart and Pattinson haven’t used their Twilight-birthed fame to attach themselves to any big blockbusters (Stewart will be starring as Joan Jett in biopic “The Runaways” and Pattinson has forthcoming drama “Remember Me”). However, if new actors must be cast, then the casting decisions must ultimately be approved by Meyer.

The THR blog also reports that Summit is allegedly considering whether the two films should receive the 3D treatment or not. The 3D upgrade would certainly up the profits of the films enough to more easily support any pay-raises that the big three may demand. And at this rate, the films may even seem out of place by the time they come out with all other sorts of blockbusters of this ilk in 3D development. The decision is set to be made by the end of the month, also subject to Meyer’s approval.
