Director Jason Reitman‘s best work has always come when he’s joined forces with Diablo Cody. The pair have scored successes with the indie breakout “Juno,” and the underrated and caustic “Young Adult.” Now the pair are back with “Tully,” which brings another one of their collaborators back into the mix too.
“Young Adult” lead Charlize Theron stars in this film about a mother who is gifted a nanny by her brother, and comes to form an interesting connection with the caregiver of her children. Joining Theron in the picture are Mackenzie Davis, Ron Livingston, and Mark Duplass, which certainly makes this a very promising picture.
“Marlo is a woman who tries her best to keep up with the demands of being an attentive mother, a loving wife, and maintaining at least some self-identity through it all,” Theron told People about her character. “But at the end of the day, she’s human, and she drops the ball a little. Or a lot.” Here’s the official synopsis:
TULLY tells the story of Marlo (Theron), a mother of three including a newborn, who is gifted a night nanny by her brother (Duplass). Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Davis).
“Tully” opens on April 20th.
