Octavia Spencer is at the level where we are going to watch just about anything she appears in. And while the first season of “Truth Be Told” on Apple TV+ didn’t necessarily get the same buzz as other shows debuting on the streamer, Season 2 begins a new story and serves as a pretty good jumping-on point for those wanting to see what Spencer is up to.
Whereas last season featured a story where Spencer starred opposite Aaron Paul, Season 2 features a new case for Poppy Parnell (Spencer), as she helps investigate the murder of an old friend’s husband. Her childhood friend —and current media mogul— played by Kate Hudson, enlists the help of Poppy after hearing her on the investigator’s popular podcast. But the investigation might unearth discoveries that could threaten Micah’s empire.
Joining Spencer and Hudson in the cast are series regulars Christopher Backus, Alona Tal, David Lyons, Andre Royo, Merle Dandridge, Mychala Faith Lee, Mekhi Phifer, Michael Beach, Ron Cephas Jones, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, Tami Roman, and Katherine LaNasa. The series comes from creator and showrunner, Nichelle Tramble Spellman, who is probably best known for her work on series such as “The Good Wife,” “Justified,” “Mercy,” and “Women’s Murder Club.”
“Truth Be Told” Season 2 debuts on Apple TV+ on August 20. You can watch the new teaser below.
