The latest trailer for Joseph Kosinski’s “Tron Legacy” has been discovered through one of the film’s handful of viral sites and unveils many of the film’s never-before-seen characters whilst still staying pretty low-key in terms of plot.
Garrett Hedlund shows ‘Captain America’ producers what they’re missing out on as protagonist Sam Flynn; Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett strut their stuff as confidantes of the opposing forces; Michael Sheen does his best David Bowie meets Alex DeLarge; a fresh-faced John Hurt lead his troops into battle while, fresh off his Oscar triumph, Jeff Bridges returns as the long-lost Kevin Flynn.
The visual effects shown through several cuts of the “Tron” world action scenes are impressive as you’d expect, as is what we presume is part of the Daft Punk score for the film (Kosinski has confirmed that it is Daft Punk though it’s a custom track made specifically for the trailer). It definitely looks like it could be a fun ride and if any movie was ever born for 3D, this is it. In addition, IMAX audiences will be treated to five extended sequences in the larger than life format. This film will definitely burn out your retinas. That said, it does look like a particularly beguiling piece of slick pop entertainment, even though it does seem kind of like a Lady Gaga video.
“Tron Legacy” hits theaters December 17th.
ava – zzzzzzz . . . now THIS is how you do 3D, james cameron.
Shitting my pants. Any word on the trailer music being the actual Daft Punk score? Sounds like Mass Effect on steroids. Love it.
Beau Bridges is on this movie?
Joseph Kosniski has confirmed(here: http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2010-2-27-tron-legacy-director-talks-daft-punk-and-explicitly-not-making-another-matrix) that the music throughout the trailer is by Daft Punk.
It's awesome, too.
I found the first "Tron" beyond boring and thought I had no interest in seeing another until this trailer. The tone, visuals, and music appear to be top notch. Hope the story is too.
The interior of the tron world doesn't look right/good. The original Tron had a 'xeroxed' look – the faces in the computer world had a grainy, 'photographed' look that I guess was dumped in favor of the super high res costume party look of this sequel. Looks like a Gossip Girl wrap party invaded the Matrix. Maybe Jared Leto is manning the decks. Fuggit.
Olivia is looking good.
looks like Bridges is following the recent Academy Award tradition of committing messy career suicide in a shitty genre pic after winning an Oscar
I'm surprised this movie actually looks good. And the music rocks.
Bridges will have two films out within a week if True Grit stays true to its Dec. 25th release date.
that is amazing…the track is daft punk?
…and i didn't even recognize john hurt.
the crane shot in the arcade (0:48) is the same as the walk "into the light" shot in the end (1:48)
aaron
you didn't even watch this trailer in 3d you idiot lol.
Saw this on Friday. The visual and with daft punk producing the soundtrack made this epic. But I feel as though they rushed through the story.
