Amazon’s award-winning series, “Transparent,” has never been a typical show. So, for its series finale, it makes sense that creator Jill Soloway would choose a very atypical way to finish the story. And in the first teaser for “Transparent Musicale Finale,” we see that Soloway has chosen to use a feature-length musical to end the groundbreaking, Emmy-winning series about a transwoman and her family.
To say that the musical finale for “Transparent” was always in the cards is untrue. As has been reported for months, this series finale came about due to necessity, after star Jeffrey Tambor was fired from “Transparent” after sexual misconduct allegations went public. Without the star at the center of the story, Soloway had to devise a way to end the saga of Maura Pfefferman. And as they say, necessity is the mother of invention.

“Transparent Musicale Finale” follows the Pfefferman family after the sudden death of Maura. Featuring the same style of humor and drama that made “Transparent” the hit series that it is, the cast and crew have crafted a two-hour musical that will hopefully give fans of the show a satisfying, and ultimately, enjoyable, ending.
The entire cast of “Transparent” returns for the finale, minus Tambor (obviously), including Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass, Gaby Hoffmann, and Judith Light.
“Transparent Musicale Finale” arrives on Amazon Prime Video this fall.
