We hate to sound bitter or anything, but it’s pretty much proven scientific fact that movie studios could give a fuck to promote their soundtracks or related music in their films (Lakeshore being one strong exception) and the record labels don’t move a lot of earths either.
We digress. We wrote Focus Features, we didn’t hear back, so we went ahead and wrote an extensive piece about Jim Jarmusch’s “The Limits Of Control,” which features music by ambient and experimental noise metal bands Boris, Sunn O))) and Earth.
But the trailer says, “with music by Boris” which is kinda vague for detail sticklers like us. The Focus Features blog saw our post and decided to elucidate. Boris evidently “wrote and performed much of the music in the film” (which still doesn’t completely clarify if they wrote a score, i.e. original music for the film specifically, to our dismay).
However, a lot of people have been asking, “who wrote the music featured in the trailer”? Well, it was actually Jim Jarmusch himself. “It was performed by a band composed of Jarmusch (electric guitars, baritone guitar), Carter Logan (drums, percussion) and Shane Stoneback (carillon, organ).”
“The Limits of Control” stars Isaach De Bankolé, Bill Murray, Gael Garcia Bernal, Tilda Swinton and hits theaters in limited release on May 22.
Sorry for any confusion. We never saw your email. Correspondence go through so many channels. But we’d love to get you any info we can.

We admittedly whined too much here, apologies our ours. We love Focus and we adore Jarmusch.
