Exec produced by Quentin Tarantino, directed by John Madden “Shakespeare In Love”) and adapted from Elmore Leonard’s novel, could “Killshot,” be another feather in the cap of comeback kid Mickey Rourke? Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks kind of bad-ass, no?
Madden hasn’t really had a hit since 1998’s aforementioned Academy Award Best Picture winner, but the picture centers on a couple (Diane Lane and Thomas Jane) placed into the Federal Witness Protection program after witnessing a violent incident involving an experienced hit man (Rourke) and his psychopathic young upstart partner (Gordon-Levitt). Having been identified, Rourke and JGL target the couple and try and clean up any evidence of their involvement.
And lol, Johnny Knoxville has a small role as an FBI agent trying to protect the couple. Stock thriller or another brilliant turn for Rourke? Survey says: since word of mouth is almost non-existent and it didn’t screen at any fall festivals, probably not, but Gordon-Levitt playing Cobra Commander and now a psychotic killer? This we may have to see (though maybe not pay to see). The film hits theaters October 20.
I saw this trailer like 2 years ago on the DVD for Clerks 2. This along with Fanboys. I’m surprised it’s finally getting a release in theaters and not DVD.
Clerks 2? That’s a ringing endorsement. Ouch.
I’m sorry I have such a memory. Maybe I should have said, “Lucky Number Slevin.”
This is the old trailer. There is no new trailer. Tarantino has nothing to do with the movie and Knoxville isn’t in it.

Elmore’s post basically says that Tarantino was an executive producer. And Exec producer is always just someone lending a name at some point. but yeah, it sounds like the Weinsteins don’t give a fuck which makes sense for a film that’s been floating around for 2 years. And knoxville is in the trailer so he must have been in it at one point, but was cut.
Tarantino got the Weinsteins to buy the rights to several of Leonard’s books during or after Jackie Brown, and this is the only one that got made.
I wouldn’t automatically assume the movie sucks though–the Weinsteins have all sorts of crazy political reasons for holding onto/or not releasing movies.
