Trailer For Bill Murray & Robert Duvall Led ‘Get Low’ Promises Southern Charm & Eccentricity

A trailer has arrived for the Bill Murray and Robert Duvall led indie “Get Low.” We saw the film at TIFF last year and described it as “a throwback film to classical character driven frontier dramas of Hollywood’s golden age.” The film marks the feature debut of Aaron Schneider and looks to be a charmer even if, as we mentioned last year, it “at times suffers from the predictable tropes of the traditional redemptive tale (complications resolved just in the nick of time, unbelievable likability bestowed upon those needing absolution, etc.)” Here’s the official synopsis:

A big-hearted Southern yarn, GET LOW is a movie spun out of equal parts folk tale, fable and real-life legend about the mysterious, 1930s Tennessee hermit who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party . . . while he was still alive. Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek and Lucas Black form an ensemble of unforgettable characters who bring to life the surprising last act of Felix Bush. A life-long “wild man” and misfit, Felix has been nearly swallowed up by the power of his town’s sinister myths about him – until he finds the courage on his own “funeral day” to make a shocking confession about why he turned away from society. The result is a comic, poignant, at times haunting tale about the snowballing nature of secrets, stories and heartbreak – and the redemption of telling the truth

The film co-stars Sissy Spacek and Lucas Black and will hit theaters on July 30th.
