The trailer for the Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page cross dressing drama “Peacock” has landed a few weeks in advance of its April 20th bow.
The period picture follows a quiet Nebraskan bank clerk (Murphy) with dual personalities (one male, one female) whose secret is exposed when a train crashes into his backyard. Bill Pullman, Susan Sarandon and Josh Lucas round out the supporting cast of this odd tale and the trailer only makes us more curious to see what this one is all about. Though, let’s not forget, it’s going straight to DVD which doesn’t bode tremendously well for its overall quality — especially with those kinds of great names attached.
I've seen the picture, and the trailer is quite misleading in regards to tone and plot. It's not really a horror picture. If anything, it's a more realistic version of Psycho, without the slasher melodrama and absurd pseudoscience. Had Peacock been more of a traditional thriller, it likely would have gone to theaters.
