We’ll make this short and sweet. First, we know most of you are anxiously awaiting “Too Old to Die Young,” the new series from writer-director Nicolas Winding Refn. From the looks of the trailer and marketing materials, it would appear that Refn is firing on all cylinders with his latest crime thriller, and his first foray into the world of TV. But there’s also a healthy amount of people that really just psyched for more music from superstar composer Cliff Martinez.
Lucky for those folks, we have two new tracks from the upcoming soundtrack for “Too Old to Die Young,” and much like Refn, it would appear that Martinez is bringing his signature style to the Amazon series.
Martinez, of course, is the composer that has worked extensively with incredible filmmakers like Steven Soderbergh and Refn, including perhaps the biggest, most famous example of his musical prowess – the “Drive” score.
We’ll soon find out just what magic Martinez and Refn have for us when all 10 episodes of “Too Old to Die Young” hits Amazon on June 14.
Here’s the synopsis for the series, as well as details about the soundtrack:
In one tragic night, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Martin Jones’s (Miles Teller) life is blown apart, and he is forced into a deadly underground of Cartel soldiers, Yakuza assassins, and mysterious vigilantes. Soon he finds himself lost on a surreal odyssey of murder, mysticism and vengeance, as his past sins close in on him. William Baldwin, John Hawkes, and Jena Malone complete the stellar cast. The series includes all the elements that have made Nicolas Winding Refn so sought after among cinema lovers: stunning visuals, exhilarating sequences, exciting action, and, of course, a one-of-a-kind soundtrack. and vengeance, as his past sins close in on him.
