The previously announced Chris Hemsworth led “Red Dawn” remake is reportedly now having its script rewritten by “Michael Clayton”/’Bourne’ series writer/director Tony Gilroy. The project has also added two more stars to it’s cast in the form of Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki.
The Gilroy news comes from Latino Review and they’re nice guys an all, but about 50% of their “exclusives” tend to be true, so buyer be very beware. Then again, it might be just a quick polish pass on the script — which is probably terrible — so Gilroy can earn an extra buck and the final product can be slightly above embarrassing, but if it does happen, we’ll bet he doesn’t receive a screen credit as the screenplay sounds completed and WGA rules get tricky with re-writes and polishes (i.e., you generally don’t get credit unless you do a major, major overhaul. Update: whaddayaknow? It’s true. Chalk one up for Latino Review, you got a long way to go, sister. 🙂 But even funnier, someone (original “Red Dawn” scribe Carl Ellsworth) has already been brought on to re-write, Gilroy’s rewrite! Oh, wacky Hollywood!
Gilroy also rewrote the Jamie Foxx classic Bait.
Bait was an original script by Gilroy that was rewritten by the Scheinmans and Jeff Nathanson.
