‘The Tomorrow War’ Teaser Trailer: Chris Pratt Stars In Futuristic Blockbuster Coming To Amazon Prime July 2

Time travelers from a war-torn future, the fate of the world in the balance, and soldiers recruited into a secret military campaign. Is this a sequel to Christopher Nolan‘s “Tenet“? Nope, it’s “The Tomorrow War,” a brand-new sci-fi action blockbuster that hits Amazon Prime this summer.

Chris Pratt stars as an everyman hero who joins the fight in a distant future for Earth’s survival against an invading alien species. Given this fare, it’s no surprise that Pratt’s character’s family life and alienated relationship with his Dad are part of the heroic stakes. Here’s the official synopsis:

In The Tomorrow War, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrives from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, humanity is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is a high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

Alongside Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, and J.K Simmons, “The Tomorrow War” also stars Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, and Keith PowersJasmine Mathews, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Seychelle Gabriel, and Theo Van also star.

The film marks the live-action directorial debut for Chris McKay. Best known for his animation work on the TV show “Robot Chicken” and “The Lego Movie,” McKay made his film directorial debut in 2017 with “The Lego Batman Movie.”  Zach Dean provides the screenplay, his last project being 2017’s “24 Hours To Live.”  

 Amazon Studios bid for distribution rights from Paramount Pictures for the movie, who sold it due to COVID-19 theatrical concerns, earlier this month and will now release the film exclusively on Amazon Prime in July.
