We suppose it was just too much goodness to have Tom Hardy, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne and Viola Davis in the same superhero movie: Oscar winners, nominees and rising young talents all rubbing shoulders. But alas, one of the biggest of the bunch has dropped out.
THR reports that Tom Hardy has exited the David Ayer directed project. Why? No reasons have been given yet, so feel free to speculate away. Our guess? He’s still filming "The Revenant" alongside Leonardo DiCaprio with Alejandro González Iñárritu, so perhaps he doesn’t want to go from that project straight into "Suicide Squad" which is scheduled to shoot in mid-April. Not to mention Hardy also has to lens the TV series "Taboo" this year and must do press rounds for "Mad Max: Fury Road," which opens in May. So we’d wager it’s nothing more sinister than scheduling.
So… who can fill Hardy’s shoes in the role of Rick Flagg? The Wrap says Jake Gyllenhaal is being eyed. Let us know below.
i think he made the right choice! warner Bros is destroying the Franchise trying to compete with Marvel and they just hire names based on names!
This will seem like an incredible waste if they get Gyllenhaal and Jared Leto is playing the joker instead of him.
Ben Foster could be great.
Hmm. That\’s too bad. Hopefully he\’s not replaced by another Jai Courtney clone like Sam Worthington or Taylor Kitsch.
If there looking for someone who is strong and a good actor they should chose Mark Strong, he\’s not an a list, but he should be.
yeah, seems like he simply took too many projects. i\’d love to see him in more films like Locke and The Drop, but those don\’t pay the bills, do they?
Good. He already played a badass Bane!
It\’s pretty great mix of talent, with Oscar winners, nominees and rising young talents, (and Jai Courtney) all rubbing shoulders.
