Got a Tip?

Tom Hardy & Channing Tatum To Star In George Nolfi’s New Film About The Recent Afghanistan Evacuation

Big news stories always tend to find themselves turned into films and TV shows eventually. And when the evacuation of the American military in Afghanistan became headline news this summer, mainly for how it was seemingly mishandled, it became clear that someone in Hollywood would quickly jump on it. And that person is filmmaker George Nolfi, who has wrangled Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy to help him bring the story to life.

According to Deadline, George Nolfi is set to write and direct a new film about the Afghanistan evacuation that occurred earlier this year and has cast Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy as his two leads in the cast. The film is based on a reported true story about a small group of American special forces folks that combine forces with Afghan troops to help rescue people during the turmoil.

Obviously, everyone knows the work of Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy. The latter of which was recently seen in “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” which is one of the biggest box office hits of 2021. Tatum, on the other hand, has been relatively quiet recently, but he has a number of projects on his slate, including the upcoming film, “The Lost City,” starring opposite Sandra Bullock.

Nolfi is probably best known for writing films such as “Ocean’s Twelve,” “The Bourne Ultimatum,” and “The Adjustment Bureau.” Most recently, he wrote and directed the Apple TV+ drama, “The Banker,” which stars Anthony Mackie.

No release date has been set for the untitled action-thriller, but with Tatum and Hardy leading the cast, clearly this is going to be a high-profile project.
