Got a Tip?

Timur Bekmambetov Is A ‘Witch Hunter’

Summit are searching for their next franchise to follow the vampire and werewolf laden “Twilight,” and they think they may have found it in “The Last Witch Hunter.”

Deadline Hollywood reports that Timur Bekmambetov (“Night Watch,” “Wanted”) is attached to produce the project with an option to direct. Based on a pitch by writer Cory Goodman (“Priest”), the film would center on a protagonist who “is one of the last remaining witch hunters, a breed that keeps the population of witches and warlocks in check. They are about to repopulate in a major way unless he can stop them.”

The concept apparently has “franchise potential” (though starting off any franchise with a first film that has “The Last….” in the title is quite lame) and will be executive produced by longtime TV horror and sci-fi staple Adam Goldworm.

  1. I am so glad that someone has decided in their infinate wisdom that fictional monsters like vampires and werewolves getting the hero treatment was not enough… and that they should take a group of people that actually existed, and that actually tortured and tormented innocent people in the name of ending witchcraft and make them heroes too… Especially since many of the ‘accused” were fingered for the economic and social gain it broought the accuser. Lookig forward to the new teen hearthrob, young Torquemada.
