‘Time’ Director Garrett Bradley To Helm ‘Parable Of The Sower’ For A24

Deadline reports that A24 has won rights to the book, originally published in 1993 and recently rediscovered by fans, even appearing on the New York Times bestseller list for the first time in September 2020, achieving a lifelong goal of Butler’s 14 years after her passing. Paul Mezey will produce the film, while A24 will finance and distribute it.

The project would be Bradley’s first fictional feature film at a major studio following a run of critically acclaimed documentaries, including the short “America,” which re-imagines missing scenes from silent-era Black films, and the Oscar-nominated “Time” from Amazon Studios. Most recently, Bradley’s docuseries “Naomi Osaka,” about the Japanese tennis player, premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim.
