The forthcoming David Guggenheim scripted, Black List approved thriller “Safe House” with Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington is about to add heaping spoonful of country goodness.
During press rounds for “Country Strong,” country music superstar and occasional actor Tim McGraw (“The Blind Side,” “Four Christmases“) revealed that he has a role in the upcoming film. Described as a mix between “Collateral” and “Three Days of the Condor,” the story centers on a young U.S. intelligence agent who must go on the run with a newly arrived prisoner after his titular safe house comes under attack. McGraw wouldn’t divulge if he’s a good guy or a baddie, but he’s mostly thrilled to be shooting a gun saying, “I get to play actually something action-packed. Shoot people and all that stuff. I’m looking forward to all that stuff.”
The film is set to go in front of cameras early in the new year with Daniel Espinosa (“Snabba Cash“) making his English language feature debut. “Safe House” opens on February 10, 2012.
I was actually pretty impressed by McGraw in Friday Night Lights.
Everything since? Not so much.
