Got a Tip?

More ‘Tiger King’ Reportedly On The Way But With A Brand-New Big Cat Story

There’s good news and bad news in regards to the idea of a “Tiger King” sequel series on Netflix. The good news is that it would appear that the filmmakers behind the massively popular docuseries that premiered two months ago on the streaming service are working on a new installment of “Tiger King.” The bad news (at least for those hoping for more Joe Exotic/Carole Baskin craziness) is that whatever form the new “Tiger King” takes, it likely will revolve around a new cast of characters.

According to THR, work is being done on a new docuseries that would carry the “Tiger King” brand name. However, instead of focusing on the updates to what is happening with Joe Exotic and the crew of people that were featured in Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin’s docuseries, the next “Tiger King” will, at least, partially focus on the mauling incident involving Roy Horn of Siegfried and Roy fame.

The report claims that a consultant for the production company behind “Tiger King” is working on speaking with people involved in the tiger mauling of Roy Horn more than a decade ago. Those may remember that Horn was viciously attacked by a tiger during a performance in 2003. Previous to that, Siegfried and Roy were perhaps the best-known performers that included live tigers in their act.

It’s unclear what form this new “Tiger King” might take, but the report claims that the series might be more focused on the animals involved and less on the craziness of the people, which was the hallmark of the original docuseries on Netflix. However, a spokesperson for the production company said it was “untrue that the direction is going in a more conservational route” on its forthcoming ‘Tiger King’ sequel material.

So, while it appears that more “Tiger King” is on the way, fans should brace themselves for a new batch of tiger-related stories instead of more Joe Exotic.
