…and so begins the chaos of the fall festival season. With TIFF announcing their first wave of titles this morning, now all eyes are on the teases, pics and trailers that will be coming like slow wave over the coming weeks and months. And so here we go…
Set to make its North American premiere at the fest is Barry Levinson‘s "The Humbling" starring Al Pacino, Greta Gerwig and Nina Arianda. A batch of new stills have arrived, and below is the official synopsis:
Dan Hedaya, Charles Grodin and Dianne Wiest co-star. Millenium Films has the worldwide rights.
Interesting that this film that's gotten no hype whatsoever is coming out before Manglehorne, which I thought was already finished.
Somewhere between "Scarface" and "Scent of a Woman," Al Pacino's formidable talent chewed a big hole in the scenery and escaped.
It was never seen again.
hope it's fleshed out more than the novel. it simply is not among roth's finest and portions read more like an outline than an actual novel. it really was diminishing returns from a once great writer.
having said that, i can see how the story could be made into a great tragi-comedy.
The Humbling is not Roth's final novel.
