That’s the premise of “Ticket To Paradise,” a new romantic comedy from Universal Pictures. When Billie Lourd and Kaitlyn Dever go on vacation to Bali after graduating college, Dever abruptly decides to marry a guy she’s only just met. That causes her divorced parents, Roberts and Clooney, to fly in to convince her not to follow through with her plans. Will that family’s generational chaos affect Lourd’s budding romance with Lucas Bravo‘s local doctor?
Rom-com veteran Ol Parker, the man behind “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” films, directs “Ticket To Paradise.” He also co-writes the film with Daniel Pipski.
“Ticket To Paradise” is on the list of films in consideration to receive a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival this August. Time will tell if that happens, but Universal has the film slated for an October 21 theatrical release. Forty-five days later, the film gets an exclusive streaming release on Peacock.
