If “The Strain” can be commended for anything this summer, it will be for giving us the always excellent Corey Stoll on a weekly basis. Outside of that, it remains to be seen if Guillermo del Toro‘s series can not only live up to its promise, but carve out a space for itself in a television landscape overflowing with supernatural stories.
Well, the first (brief) trailer is here and we’ll admit, we’re intrigued. Based on the book of the same name by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, the series will center on Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control, who puts together a team to help save humanity when a strain of vampirism breaks out. But as you’ll see, this teaser hints at vampires closer to Nosferatu than Edward, and the closing shot is pure del Toro with a hooded monster full on raging.
“The Strain” debuts on Sunday, July 13th. Watch below. [Del Toro Films]
so far, looks better than the book.
The most predictable tagline of the year….Anyway, after this teaser I understood It's gonna be another medicore Del toro affort but Corey Stoll Is an awesome actor.
I'm pretty sure Corey Stoll doesn't have nearly that much hair in real life. Why do they do that?
Looks impressive. I haven't read the books but I'll watch the series.
This is going to be amazing. Story in the trilogy is a little out there but I'm on board
