Got a Tip?

There’s Evil & Hope In New Footage From ‘Silence,’ Plus 21-Minute Talk With Martin Scorsese

The countdown to the end of the cinematic year continues, and with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” soon out of the way, it leaves one more major movie to arrive: “Silence.” Martin Scorsese‘s passion project will be in cinemas just in time for the holidays and some new footage has arrived in a fresh promo spot.

The trio of Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver lead this movie about Jesuit missionaries in Japan who are persecuted for their faith during the 17th century. And as Scorsese has been revealing in recent interviews, the movie has seen him confront his own relationship with his beliefs, and it’s one that he admits is ever evolving. “Silence” might be the most personal movie the director has made in years, and hopefully, one of the most powerful.

“Silence” arrives in limited release on December 23rd and goes wide on January 13th. Check out the new promos below along with a 21-minute interview on Channel 4, where Scorsese talks about the film and explains how Donald Trump may be like Bill The Butcher from “Gangs Of New York.”
