What do you get when you cross creepy paintings and suspicious town folk? The answer is Blumhouse’s “The Visitor.” Between a deal with EPIX and Blumhouse Television, the studio will be creating eight films set for streaming, one of these being “The Visitor.”
From director Justin P. Lange, best known for his work on the horror movie “The Seventh Day,” “The Visitor” will follow Robert and his wife Maia as they return to her childhood home. However, all isn’t as it seems when Robert finds portraits in the house that look oddly familiar.
“The Visitor” was written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes, both previously working together on the movie “Songbird.” Bradley Pilz will executively produce the psychological horror (“As They Made Us”) along with Greg Gilreath (“Vengeance”), Adam Hendricks (“The Voyeurs”), Jeremy Gold (“A House on the Bayou”), Chris McCumber (“Absolute Domination”), David Grove Churchill Viste (“The Wind”), and Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum.
“Game of Thrones” and “Iron Fist” actor Finn Jones will star as Robert, an average man who has to take a frightening dive into the rabbit hole to discover his true identity. Joining Jones will be “Mortal Kombat” actress Jessica McNamee, who also starred in the giant shark thriller “The Meg.” The rest of the cast includes Dane Rhodes from the 2022 movie “Where the Crawdads Sing” and “Saints & Sinners” star Donna Biscoe.
Here’s the official synopsis:
When Robert and his wife Maia move to her childhood home, he discovers an old portrait of his likeness in the attic – a man referred to only as ‘The Visitor.’ Soon he finds himself descending down a frightening rabbit hole in an attempt to discover the true identity of his mysterious doppelgänger, only to realize that every family has its own terrifying secrets.
Paramount Home Entertainment will release “The Visitor” digitally and on-demand on October 7, 2022. The movie will additionally stream on EPIX in December 2022. Watch the trailer below.
