Got a Tip?

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ Dominates Razzie Awards, Takes Worst Picture & 7 More

null2012 wasn't lacking in terrible films, but it seems for the folks at the annual Razzie Awards – celebrating the very best of the worst – it was time to honor one franchise for delivering consistently schlocky films to massive box office success.

Last night, the organization "honored" "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2" with eight awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Actress, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Screen Ensemble, Worst Director, Worst Remake, Rip-Off Or Sequel and Worst Screen Couple. Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in particular were singled out for terribleness, though Robert Pattinson got off the hook, and it wasn't the only movie to get a stamp of disapproval.

Adam Sandler, who dominated last year's awards with "Jack & Jill," earned Worst Actor for "That's My Boy" and the movie itself nabbed Worst Screenplay. Meanwhile, Rihanna's screen debut in "Battleship" earned her Worst Supporting Actress.

Is picking on 'Twilight' too easy? Were these truly 2012's worst? Tell us below. [Gold Derby]

  1. I'm a female yet I hate Twilight series with passion. Bella is a very weak girls who cannot live without man. She's afraid to be older (opening New Moon), because she has her so called perfect boyfriend who is actually far older than her. I hate girls who depends her life too much on a man and only adore their physical (Edward's beauty is always in every pages).

Good thing I am not those stupid fangirls who even build a religion called Cullenism. I'm very happy this franchise is over and I hope it will not be reboot anymore. Good for it to win what is rightfully its since it came out on 2005.

  2. For those of you who keep insisting to us NON-fans because ‘Stephenie Meyer is laughing all the way to the bank… The only reason THAT happened is because YOU all allowed her to force this incredibly dysfunctional story down our throats like this AFTER we were SCREAMING our issues about it.

Basically, the way they filmed BDp1 AND BDp2 is a great big huge FLIP OFF to MANY of her FORMER FANS – not to mention the ENTIRE WORLDWIDE VAMPIRE FANDOM (those of us who weren’t obsessed with Twilight's not-even-SORT-of ‘Vamps”, anyway.

SMeyer could have written ANY ‘ol ending in Breaking Dawn – and that’s obviously what she did. The fans she ‘accidentally’ got addicted to her story because of the irresponsible way she wrote it would have LAPPED UP whatever P*SS she wrote like honey (and you did).

This entire ‘blockbuster saga’ was built off of DEBATES, not good storytelling!! If you would like the COMPLETE explanation that officially DEBUNKS the Twilight Saga storyline, do a search for ‘explain twilight breaking dawn ending on blogspot’ – you’ll find EVERYTHING you need to know and ALOT more than you EVER wanted, LoL!

  3. Misogyny at its best? Have you read Twilight? It's incredibly anti-capable female. If you think Twilight is only hated by men, go talk to some feminists. Men just mock it; it's women that truly loathe it. Bella is one of the least empowering female characters in YA fiction. You know you have problems when many YA genre fans despise it. I'd never let my preteen daughter pick up a Twilight book. Like any responsible mother, I want her to grow up, be independent, be successful, and follow her dreams. If those dreams included running away with a vampire and having a baby girl that an adult man wants to marry, I would be very concerned. Female empowerment my ass.

  4. You cannot beat the hatred and the blatant misogyny that this franchise has taken all because it is a successful franchise based on a love story. God forbid if women have something they love to be knocked down by the male-dominated entertainment establishment.

Indiewire is not removed from your ridiculous Twilight hate when your so called reporters went to Cannes and was supposed to write a review of Kristen Stewart's film 'On the Road' (which there is Youtube video of a standing ovation for over 4 mins) only could bring themselves to write about their hate of Twilight. It was the most unprofessional written piece I know I've read in a while (not including crazy political pundits' opinion pieces).

The owner of the Razzies had the nerve to say that Twilight only made money because 4 million teen girl bought 10 tickets each. The ridiculousness of the excuses that the haters bring to try to make an argument to justify the fact that the bottom line is: IT'S A BLOCKBUSTER FRANCHISE THAT MEN HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH. Also, if anyone really took the time to look, Twilight fans aren't a bunch of teenagers. They're adult women ranging from college age to grandmothers. Try and do a little research.

Twilight has been hated upon from the beginning. No one could understand why females were storming area malls to see the cast. Robert Pattinson went from being able to act in a Harry Potter film to not being able to act in a Twilight film. If you don't think Robert can act, then you've never seen Robert in real life as oppose to seeing him as Edward or Cedric Diggory because he's completely different.

From the initial criticizing of the so called vampire purists saying that they hate it because "vampires don't sparkle" as if that's a reason to hate a love story and forgetting that they do drink blood to an unexplained panning of one of the best special effects companies in the world (Tippet Studios) all because of Twilight.

It's funny how suddenly good directors, cinematographers, special effects experts, composers and the like could NEVER EVER get any good reviews for any of their work on a Twilight film. But as soon as they did another film right after, they received all the praise in the world. Their work was OUTSTANDING!! Funny how Tippet never got those wolf special effects right after 4 films. Funny how they just totally sucked when it came to Twilight. Michael Sheen was one of those actors that suddenly just couldn't act anymore when he appeared in a Twilight film. Melissa Rosenberg received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her scripts for Dexter but suddenly can't write a single word right when it comes to a Twilight script. Funny how that works.

Just admit it and stop saying that you don't like Twilight because they're bad films because they're not that bad. If these films were that bad, they would have never grossed over 2 Billion dollars worldwide. Just admit that your male hating egos cannot take the fact that Twilight overtook the world overshadowing the Harry Potters which no one has even uttered a word about since it has ended except for Mugglenet. No one cares about it anymore. It's hard seeing those Twilight actors on the covers of all of the major magazines consistently and you can barely get Emma, Dan and don't even look for Rupert on magazines. Twilight actors constantly are shown love by trending on Twitter by name as well. Must be hard for those fanboys who can't get any of their actors to trend.

There were more males that have seen Breaking Dawn 2. More than any other film. I personally saw the film with guys breaking even with females with age ranging from teens to senior citizens. MEN WATCHED AND ENJOYED BREAKING DAWN 2!!!!

As everyone can see, Twilight copycats are not doing too well. Beautiful Creatures which is considered the first real post Twilight YA film was a bust at the box office. You all will never get it. Twilight is Twilight. It's special. The story is unique and not like anything that's ever been written either in book or script. The cast is loved and you just cannot duplicate it.

As the Razzies bully and beat down this female dominated 2 billion dollar franchise thinking what they just did is "justified"(Did anyone see Jennifer Lawrences's 'House at the End of the Street'? Why is she getting off scott free behind that bust of a film I don't understand)

The Twilight cast continues to sign onto good projects. And Razzies, Kristen Stewart's Snow White and the Huntsman was successful at the box office. It smashed it's competition Mirror, Mirror and she's going to be prominently feature in the sequel of her next franchise. So take that!

Kristen also has several really good projects coming up from Lie Down in Darkness (a roll she beat Jennifer Lawrence out of), Focus etc…

Robert Pattinson has several really good projects as well working with top notched A-list actors. So I guess his acting skills aren't all that bad.

The Twilight cast continues to get good work in film and television. Even a Twilight actress received an Oscar nomination while still making Twilight films.

Now that the franchise is done, what will you all do with no more Twilight to bully? You all will no longer get anymore hits on your sites for Twilight films. You will no longer feed or make money off of Twilight which we all know has bank you all a lot of money over the years with your negative posts. Trust me, sites like Hollywood Life and E online won't know what to do with themselves except make up lies and stories about Robert and Kristen.

Twilight is done. But the fans are still around and extremely supportive of the cast and crew. Twilight is a love story about a teenage girl who fell in love with a vampire. Who would have thought so much hate could come from a story about love?

  5. So many missed opportunities. Twilight? Come on guys! Seems a once pretty cool, fun event has been infiltrated by angry little boys. O.K. You have pulled the little girls' pig tails. What is next?
