As seen in the trailer for “The Staircase,” the series adapts the unbelievable true crime story about Michael Peterson and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen. The story is so crazy; it was the subject of a famous documentary that was released on Netflix. As if that wasn’t enough reason to watch, “The Staircase” is created by, co-written, and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Antonio Campos and is headlined by actors Colin Firth and Toni Collette in the lead roles. I mean, the series sells itself, right? True crime? Check. A-list cast? Check. Great filmmaker? Check. This is truly a must-see.
Joining Firth and Collette in the cast are Michael Stuhlbarg, Juliette Binoche, Dane DeHaan, Olivia DeJonge, Rosemarie DeWitt, Tim Guinee, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sophie Turner, Vincent Vermignon, Odessa Young, and Parker Posey. As mentioned, the series is directed by Antonio Campos, who is best known for his films such as “The Devil All the Time” and “Christine.” He co-wrote and produced the series alongside Maggie Cohn.
“The Staircase” will arrive on HBO and HBO Max on May 5. You can watch the trailer below.
