With the releases this year of “Stillwater,” “The Card Counter,” and the upcoming “Last Night In Soho,” it’s safe to say that Focus Features has retained its corner in the US distribution market. It’s been a wild and wonky year for theatrical releases, so kudos to them for getting through this rough period unscathed.
The question is, as with most distributors: will they keep it up through 2022? While Robert Eggers‘ “The Northman” will undoubtedly make a splash upon release next April, there’s a lot of time between now and then. One promising film coming from Focus in that interim is “The Outfit.” The upcoming gangster drama stars Mark Rylance as an English tailor who sets up shop in Chicago, only to find that his local clientele comes from one of the city’s vicious crime families.

Alongside Rylance, “The Outfit” also stars Dylan O’Brien, Zoey Deutch, and Johnny Flynn. Simon Russell Beale, Nikki Amulker-Bird, and Alan Mehdizadoh are also part of the cast.
Graham Moore, best known for winning an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for 2014’s “The Imitation Game,” directs “The Outfit,” his feature film debut. He also co-writes the screenplay with actor/writer Johnathan McClain, known for his work on AMC‘s “Mad Men.”
