Back when Quibi was still a thing, it was announced that the Farrelly Brothers were teaming up with an all-star cast to bring “The Now” to the mobile streamer. Then Quibi died and the scraps were bought by Roku. And apparently, that included “The Now,” which is finally hitting the streaming service.
As seen in the trailer, “The Now” tells the story of a man who finds out his brother died by suicide. That’s surprising enough, of course, but it’s even more shocking when you find out the man was trying to kill himself, as well, right as he learned of his brother’s fate. So, with the help of his friends and therapist, the man has decided to live his life focusing only on the NOW. That would be all well and good if it didn’t include thugs out to get money from him and a stint inside a mental health facility. Comedy, folks!
As mentioned, the series is created by the Farrelly Brothers, but the cast is probably the biggest selling point. The ensemble is led by Dave Franco but also includes Bill Murray, O’Shea Jackson Jr, Jimmy Tatro, Alyssa Milano, Rob Yang, and Daryl Hannah.
Interestingly, the trailer for “The Now” arrives on the same day as the show premieres on the Roku Channel. So, uh, that’s a bold strategy, let’s see if it pays off for ‘em.
“The Now” is available…now on Roku Channel. You can watch the trailer below.
